Located in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean, halfway between California and Australia, the Islands of Tahiti are a mythical destination. Also known as French Polynesia, the nation is comprised of 118 islands dispersed across a large nautical area the size of Western Europe. The smattering of coral-fringed islands and atolls stretches south of the Equator just below Hawaii and is in the same time zone. The mention of Tahiti calls to mind visions of an idyllic island paradise and once you visit, you’ll discover that your imagination isn’t too off the mark. With sheltered blue lagoons, vibrant coral reefs, a majestic, mountainous interior, and five star overwater hotels, French Polynesia is an idyllic tropical paradise that draws visitors from all over the world. The archipelago’s legendary destinations include Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora and the remote and untouched Marquesas Islands.

Travelers now have a chance to win enough airline miles for making multiple trips to French Polynesia with the nation’s flag carrier Air Tahiti Nui, who is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The airline’s “Share The Love” contest is giving away a total of 1,000,000 airline miles from its loyalty program Club Tiare in increments of 25,000 miles each to winning travelers. Each winner who gets the prize of 25,000 miles, can also give 25,000 to a person of their choice (explaining the giveaway’s title ‘Share The Love’). The winner will also receives a private helicopter flight courtesy of Tahiti Nui Helicopters (you can watch a video of my helicopter sightseeing flight above Bora Bora below).

There are two ways to enter the contest (which is open to all nationalities): travelers can either enter the contest for free on the airline’s website or be automatically entered when purchasing an Air Tahiti Nui flight – by September 30 of this year – for travel between now and September 30, 2024. Entries are limited to one per person during the entire contest period. A draw will be made every month to designate one winner per month over the period 1st August to 30th September 2023.

In 2019, Air Tahiti Nui entirely renewed its fleet by four Boeing 787-9s, which it proudly calls its  “Tahitian Dreamliners”. One of the great things about flying with Air Tahiti Nui is the tropical ambiance of its aircraft, which immerses you in the “mana” of the Tahitian island as soon as you step onboard. For example, a floor-to-ceiling photo of Bora Bora island takes center stage in the plane’s entry galley, a reminder that the plane is about to head to one of the world’s most beautiful paradises. Upon entering the plane, the traditionally dressed and always smiling cabin crew also hands out Tiare flowers, the national flower of the islands of Tahiti. It all evokes a sense of holiday, which helps to leave behind the annoyances and stress of getting to and through the airport. Air Tahiti Nui provides service to Tahiti from Paris, Los Angeles, Seattle, Auckland and Tokyo. Through partnerships and code share agreements, the airlines offers connections from 30+ other destinations, including Sydney, Beijing and New York City.
