A few years ago, I made a change in my life that stemmed from the way I viewed God, my faith, and myself being absolutely wrecked. Passive Christianity, where it was all about making me a better person and quantified by the number of church events I made it to, was no longer an option. It’s been a fantastic adventure so far and there are no signs of it slowing down, but in my excitement, I was naive and judgmental towards my brothers and sisters. I thought that the path God had me on was the best and possibly the only one someone could be on and call themselves a real Christ follower. I was wrong. I was and am on a path, not the path. A man I respect very much once said he didn’t believe it was so much what you did that mattered, but how you did it. Meaning that people so often get caught up in trying to figure out what God wants them to do with their life that they end up doing nothing while they wait indefinitely. He was saying, do something! Follow your passions, your skills, and your gifts. What you do doesn’t matter as much as how you do it; go over the top, shout the Lord’s name from the rooftop, sound your barbaric yawp! The Lord has a seemingly infinite number of paths we can walk, what matters is that we seek and serve both him and others while on that path.
This video reminded me of that. Three stories. All look extremely different, but all are willing to go all in and are racing in the same direction: towards Christ.
I also liked this quote: “We have this big God adventure we’re on and that’s the most romantic thing you could be doing.”
