Hello there and welcome to my luxury travel blog!
I am not part of the travel industry. I am a doctor with 2 passions: my work and travel. My travel blog is a reference source for fellow travelers with the same spirit. There is an avalanche of travel websites, reviews and agencies out there, that can inspire the discerning traveler but also cause a lot of frustration and confusion (“too many choices!”; “is it worth it?”; “will it fit my taste?”). I filter all that information into this website about luxury travel, based on my own 20 years long (and ongoing) experience of traveling around the world.
You can subscribe to my newsletter (3x/week) by entering your email address in the box on the right side (desktop) or bottom (tablet, smart phone) of this page. These newsletters, sent on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, feature:

Hi Jorgen, thank you for your kind comment. I use an Olympus SZ-31MR. Kind regards
Your website is exactly what i was searching for to get information for several hotels on my coming asia trip! The pros and cons give a great overview to find the perfect luxury hotel for Kuala Lumpur. How many days per year do you spend on travelling?
Greetings from germany!
Thank you Julian. I travel around 8 weeks a year, excluding a lot of weekend trips. Be sure to check out the St Regis Kuala Lumpur, which is set to open soon. KR
i just stumbled upon your website after watching a beautifully well documented journey of yours from dubai to brisbane. I was wondering how did you manage to get the job of travelling the world in style, because that is seriously been a dream of mine for ages, and any advice would be much appreciated. 🙂
Thanks so much :))
Thank you! I mostly pay my premium flights and upscale hotels by airline miles and points. I have already published several tips here on my blog for luxury travel on a budget: /tips/. Hope that helps!
This is by far my favorite travel blog. Loving those YouTube videos! What camera do you use for your videos?
Well thank you! The clips I am publishing at the moment are shot with a Canon SX710HS, although I am in the process of updating my equipment (to feature clips in 4K).
can i know your name who writes on this website, so that i can give reference of your beautiful knowledge about resorts. please revert soon
What is it that you do which allows you to travel so luxuriously? I’d assume you can’t afford to travel this frequently just from Adsense income.
Wow your videos are really a help
Great site! What field of medicine do you practice? I am a emergency physician myself.
Dr. I have watched many of your video’s and have enjoyed them all, I also like how you edit and publish them. I just saw your review for the launch of the new Emirates B777 Business and First Class (Pub.12/02/2017). Have you had a chance yet to fly the newest First Class B777 yet? I’m wondering if you have and I missed that video. Thank you – Susan
I will upload the trip reports and clips of my two Emirates B777 flights – one in the new Business Class, and one in the new First Class cabin – later this year. Stay tuned 🙂
Do you use a gimbal?
No
Dear Mr. Travel Expert,
Your videos and website are the most elegant, quiet and beautiful pictures to watch. If you are not a doctor, you can be a film director, too.
Thanks for sharing your passions with people around the world.
Accidentally stumbled on one of your YouTube videos. Binge watched all of them…I think!? Thank you. You’ve taken us around the world and back many times over. Look forward to seeing more. You inspired us to plan our travels to some of the exotic places that our beautiful earth has to offer. Our playground awaits! Thank you.
Hi, what camera equipment do you use?
Thx Masse
A Canon G7X Mark II
Thx, really smooth work.
(Inbuilt?) stabilizer just from the camera or do you use a gimbal as well?
I don’t use a gimbal, only a camera
Hallo, what editing software do you use? I love how you edit your clips on YouTube! I‘ve read above that you use a Canon G7x ii camera. I also have the same one! Delighted!
Excelent job! Thanks for sharing. I go to bed every night with your marvelous captions of amazing place, then in my dreams I fly away. To Our blue planet. Hope you can travel to my country sometime. Greetings from the end of the world, Chile.
Hello Luxury Travel Expert. I’m so glad I came across your YouTube channel, my wife and I are going through all your videos now. Your style is very calm and easy to watch, much appreciated. I’m impressed that you are able to keep all your shors in focus even when zooming, something I’m not able to do.
I notice that above your said you are using a Canon G7x II camera but you also said that you are looking at an upgrade to 4K. Have you selected a 4K camera yet?
Please keep up the excellent work!
Thank you for your kind comment. So far, I have not selected a 4K camera yet. Any advice is welcome 🙂
Hi, thanks for your videos! Do you use specific credit cards for deals on luxury travel?
Would you be able to tell me of any other way of getting airmiles other than getting a credit card.
Thank you.
Have you chosen a new camera yet? If so would love to hear what you got and how you like it.
Your website is such an informative and help for my travel in south eastern asia. Thank you
Do you hide your camera somehow when walking around in crowds ? People in the videos do not stare or glare at you like you notice in most tourism videos so it seems almost like a movie set !
Your videos are so soothing to watch. You’ve brought your viewers on places and experiences many of us can aspire to one day have. Thank you.
Hi, I really like the music you use in your videos. May I know where do you get them?
My music is from Epidemic Sound and Musicbed
Hello Dr. my husband and I loved your tour of the 12APOSTLES in Capetown. We are to be there in a month. It was very informative. I personally thought you were in the travel industry and they hosted a site inspection. I have a site inspection scheduled the day we land. Your videos were majestically beautiful.
Hello !
Just to say I love love loooooove your videos ❤️
Watching them motivates me to make a lot of money so I can afford those luxurious flights !
Thank you so much ! You are an inspiration !
Congratulations on your elegant camera work and editing of all your travel videos. They are perfect in every sense and make one feel as if they are in the space. The music too, is beautiful and peaceful. I would love this for my properties. Do you do your own editing. Are Where did you learn to video so perfectly. Your speed/ timing Whilst filming is perfect and eye to detail is amazing too. You are really very talented and your work stands out.
Really enjoy your videos but how do you earn all these points to travel? I mainly rely on credit card bonuses but there’s a limit to that…
I have watched so many of your videos in the last two months I feel like I have traveled the entire world. They are excellent. I have walked past so many of the European hotels you have videoed and wondered what they were like? Thanks for sharing them. Just one question, have you listed any of the music you use on the videos? Maybe you don’t want to share it because it’s so good, I understand, but would love to know.
@Carl: thx! The music is from Epidemic Sound and MusicBed
Hello ,
I am really enjoying your videos on youtube. What drone do you use? Are you still using the Canon G7 x 11? Thank you!
Hello Doc, i’m Jide Johnson. My wife, Kids and i love your youtube channel. We love your Capri trip, we live in Lagos, Nigeria. what is the best time of the year to visit the town.? I know right now there are flight restrictions. but we can plan for the nearest future..
Thank you..
@ Jide Johnson: mid-May to mid-October (July and August are too crowded though)
Thank you Doc, i really appreciate your response. Once i start making plans, i’ll let you know. Warm regards
Hi There. I discovered you while being locked down for Covid-19. Your videos on Youtube are one of the things that have kept me sane throughout this crazy time. I love to travel as well and can’t wait until things are somewhat back to normal so I can do so once again. Your videos are beautifully shot and so full of detail. The music is very relaxing as well and I love how you let the places speak for themselves. Thank you for the great content. I always look forward to what you will post next. All the best, Sheila
Hello Doctor! Your videos are realy amaizing! Thank you and keep up the good work! You wrote you were from the heart of Europe. Just wondering where you are from? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Hi Mr.
I really like your videos and blogs.
I wanted to know in which country do you practice medicine?
Hi, fantastic work you do, showing the World to all of use. After you have filmed things, how long does it take you to edit your film work? Writing reviews etc, I bet the filming part the easy bit. Selecting the right music to the texting the information. I’m trying to learn from scratch, filming a train in Pisa. Then experimenting with all you can do with the film. Any tips for a beginner, thanks.
Sir in which speciality you are?
This is so nice. I am a hospitality professional and a part time blogger. I find your website very informative and interesting. Keep blogging! Cheers!
Undoubtedly the most elegant blogger who truly captures every detail and makes the viewer feel like they are right there too!
Thank you for taking me on your travels around the world with you! During the pandemic it’s been a godsend since we can’t travel at all. Your videos are all beautiful and have inspired new travel ideas whenever we can safely resume our globetrotting ways!
Wow! I stumbled on your channel yesterday. I work from home now and like to watch travel, airplanes and beaches. It’s calming and helps stay in touch with the world. I’m dreaming of taking trips. I’ve only seen a few of your videos and have pulled up your site. As many flights as you have taken it looks like you are a full time traveler but I read you only travel 8 weeks a year. I’m from the US and will never be over seas or if ever it would only be once. The food on the flights makes me hungry lol. It looks so delicious. Just wanted to say good job. When and where are your next trips? Hopefully somewhere closer to the US.
Like every one else here, your videos and reviews are remarkable, and have been a steady stream of inspiration and motivation this past year. How about starting a travel club so we can travel around with you and share in the luxury life?
Thanks for your reviews! I love your style: Laid back, non-intrusive. Your videos on YouTube make the most of the medium. You are able to capture the essence of both the hotel or the flying experience. You tell it like it is, and you do not proselytize in favor or against a brand. You offer you perception, and it is not all about you but you as a service. Such a novel way of doing it rather than the “influencer”-type of review. Love the lack of jabber, all the details can be read as the images take center stage and make us wanderlust each Saturday!
@ Yuri: thank you for your kind comment
Hi,
Me and my wife very much appreciate time and effort you put into delivering your videos for us. I know it’s time consuming and probably pain in a.. sometimes, so we appreciate it even more 🙂 We are looking for a 4K camera and since your camera and hands! are very smooth we thought we will ask you what model do you use? We noticed you hand held your camera. Sometimes we see in window reflection that you most likely use some kind of smartphone. 🙂 And your drone camera is most smooth we have seen on youtube. It’s amazing how smooth it is comparing to other walking channels we watch.
We wish you all the best and thank you!
Sincerely,
Paul
@ Paul : thx for your kind comment. I use an iPhone 11 (no gimbal)
Thank you! That is a quite a surprise phone does it that well. Just watching Calilo in Greece atm. Have a great day! Paul
Dear Mr. Travel Expert
from Japan.
I have been watching YouTube for 4 years.
It is very easy to see, dignified and soothing.
Your video feels very beautiful and sophisticated.
I miss traveling during the pandemic, but I’m healing it with a video.
I also like airplane, first and business videos. (Music too)
Especially the drone video is the best.
Is it a commercial drone? Are you practicing?
Have you ever been to Japan? Japan is also a good place!
Thank you for your 20 years and ask for your continued wonderful travel lectures.
Hi Doctor Travel Blogger, I came upon your YouTube channel only last week and have been magically transposed to several beach resorts where your camera became my eyes. Your pace is unrushed, allowing the viewer to linger without getting fatique. And I especially like how you capture sunsets at each coastal location. You are indeed multi-talented and gifted. God bless you.
Your airline reviews are great, but I don’t trust your hotel reviews and lists. They seem to be affected by biases. For example, you always give the Rosewood Group a plug. You can not accurately rate all the best hotels in a city , unless you have stayed at all those hotels.
I have just seen your Bora Bora video which is excellent. What type of handheld camera and drone do you use?
Please write what cameras you used on Bora Bora 🙂
@Alex iPhone 13
Hi, can you tell me a little more about getting between the islands of Seychelles, mainly Mahe to Grand Anse and/or La Digue. We have four nights there, thinking of two on outer island and last two on Mahe. Thoughts? I assume ferrying is more affordable?
Hi, what Camera did you use for the last Capetown video. It has incredible stabilisation.
@David: an iPhone
