Winter Sweepstake: fly Business or First Class for FREE

Friday newsletters always feature luxury travel contests, travel tips, travel series, or luxury travel news.

Today (January 2, 2015): win two American Airlines upgrades and fly Business or First Class for free.

*** COMPETITION NOW CLOSED. STAY TUNED FOR OUR UPCOMING TRAVEL CONTESTS WHICH WE WILL ANNOUNCE IN OUR NEWSLETTER ***

Today, we launch our Winter Blog Giveaway: two systemwide upgrades (from Economy to Business, or Business to First class) with American Airlines will be won by one lucky reader of this blog!

You can enter the Blog Giveaway on our sweepstake website, where you need to complete the following steps (each step increases your chances of winning):

  • Mandatory: Sign up for our newsletter (3x/week). You can also subscribe to our newsletter by entering your email address in the box on the right side of this page.
  • Mandatory: Share with us your favorite hotel in the comments section below.

An American Airlines Systemwide Upgrade entitles you to an upgrade of one class (Economy to Business, or Business to First) on all flights of a one way itinerary that is operated by American Airlines or American Eagle (if upgrade space is available). So, your next trip may take place in the following cabin (be warned: flying will never be the same again when you are used to Economy):

American Airlines 777-300ER business class

American Airlines’ Business Class in their Boeings 777-300ER is awesome, as you can read here in my very first trip report. American Airlines is currently also updating the Business Class product on their older Boeing 777-200 and 767 planes. Being an American Airlines Excutive Platinum member entitles me to 8 systemwide upgrades per year, and since I will not be able to consume all of them by the end of 2015, I am giving away 2 upgrades in this winter blog giveaway.

This giveaway has tremendous value to you if you have a trip booked (or will book a trip) that meets the following conditions:

  • Paid itinerary (not award).
  • Flights must have American Airlines flight numbers.
  • Flights must be operated by American Airlines or American Eagle (not partners).
  • Upgrade space must be available on your flights.
  • The entire one way itinerary must be flown before 28th February 2016.

Enter the competition before 31 January 2015 at 11.59 pm CET. One lucky winner will be randomly selected and receive the 2 upgrades.

Enjoy the weekend and stay tuned for Monday when we reveal a new top 10 travel list.

  1. I’m partial to Hilton’s properties (mostly Hiltons, HGI’s and ES’s) since the brand has more coverage for places we visit then most other hotel chains. Better choices of different room styles and optional add-ons, plus their HHonors reward plan is the only one, to my knowledge, that lets you earn both hotel stay credits/points AND airline frequent-flyer miles together for each paid booking through their website rather then the either/or schemes (either hotel points OR airline miles, but not both) of other hotel chains frequent-guest plans.

  2. Ooopps, forgot to post a favorite hotel in my earlier comment, sorry. Favorite hotel is the London Hilton Tower Bridge.

  3. My most recent favorite is an Inn in Charleston SC…. The Meeting Street Inn… Charming old world Inn with great service and a great location!

  4. My favorite hotel is the Holiday Music Motel in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. It has an on site radio station, live music at least once a week, and a retro rockabilly decor unique to each room.

  5. I absolutely love The Legian in Bali (Seminyak). Impeccable service, luxury suites and great pool area by the sea!

  6. I love the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. This hotel is old class and sophistication. Jackets are required after sundown, and the dress code states that women aren’t allowed to wear slacks. It’s something I didn’t mind, as it contributes to an air of gentility…you feel as if you are stepping back in time to a bygone era. It’s not just the full breakfast, afternoon tea, the view from the porch and the five course dinner…the hotel is gorgeous and I appreciate the best wi-fi signal I’ve ever had in a hotel on an island where cars are not allowed.

  7. Our favorite hotel is the St Regis in Kuaui, Hawaii. Gosh it makes my heart melt! We went there for our honeymoon almost 5 years ago and what a wonderful honeymoon it was! Since then we’ve lived in several different countries, had twin girls, and experienced many different things, but our time at the St. Regis remains one of the most wonderful weeks imaginable!

  8. My favorite hotel was the El Monte Sagrado, Autograph Collection in Taos, NM. Located in the quaint mountain town of Taos, you are surrounded by beautiful native american history and are just 10 minutes from some of the best skiing in the world.

  9. The Hilton in the Munich Airport was excellent. Great service, comfortable beds, clean, modern and quiet.

  10. I haven’t stayed at many hotels, but my husband and I recently stayed at the Ashworth by the Sea in Hampton, NH. It was only for a night so we didn’t get to enjoy it for long, but we had an amazing view! Just wish the weather had been nicer.

  11. I love Crown Metropol in Perth, Australia! The city is not on many people’s ‘Must See’ list, but I love the city and the hotel has recently gone through some very, very nice renovations. Whenever I’m in Perth, it’s a must stay!

  12. Wouldn’t this be nice! I’m flying to Bangkok at the end of this month and would L-O-V-E to have a systemwide upgrade!!!

  13. My fav hotel is Embassy Suites. It’s super cool cause the hotel is really open inside and free buffet.
