Today (May 3, 2017): Review of the Maldives’ largest overwater villa.

- Hotel website: The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort
The bi-level, three-bedrooms John Jacob Astor Estate is the largest overwater residence in the Indian Ocean archipelago. The palatial villa is located along the western jetty of the ultraluxe St Regis Vommuli Maldives, which I have covered in a separate review that you can read here. As you may expect, the estate does not come cheap and will cost you (and your travel party) at least $25,000 USD per night, depending on the season. But that money will buy you a stay at the pinnacle of contemporary island luxury in the Maldives. I did not stay at the estate, but was offered a tour during my holiday at the St Regis Vommuli.
The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli features in my lists of the 10 most fabulous resorts in the Maldives, the best overwater villas in the Maldives, and the best new luxury hotels of 2016.

BEST TIME TO VISIT
The best weather in the Maldives is between January and April, which also means high season (with low availability and very expensive room rates). The monsoon runs from May to October, peaking in June. It is worth paying higher prices and sticking to the dry season as there is nothing to do on a rainy day except drink, eat, work out or scuba dive. Especially November and December, which are often labelled as dry season months, have been very unsettled in recent years.
HOW TO GET THERE

Wow !! Ive just spent the last part of an hour watching your latest review of the Vommulli Maldives Resort
Here are my thoughts….
St Regis Brand is par excellence in the field of luxury travel..and long may it continue offering the traveller the very best that is out there. I was memorised when your hand opened up the many doors in the John Jacob Astor Suite BUT and there is always a but I preferred your over water bungalow suite to the other. Singapore Architect Group WOW have done many projects over the years and I salute them for their innovative design work but for me the interior work of the the JJAS did not work for me others may of course say differently. Your Overwater Bungalow in contrast was much warmer in tones so much more inviting. The layout of the island was a delight to see encompassing many aspects for the traveller. As per usual your video work of this resort and many previous reviews is of the highest order and as such will continue to follow.
Thank you, Kathryn, for your kind comment and appreciation for my vidoes. I wish you happy travels!
This place looks amazing!! Well done on the pictures and the video!!
