Hello, I have an upcoming stay in October and we recently got this email. Would you go to the Andaz with all this going on or would you book somewhere else in Costa Rica? I already have plane tickets purchased.

“From September 1 – October 31, 2024, Rio Bhongo (our main restaurant) will be closed for work on enhancing the guest experience and F&B offerings. During this time the pools adjacent to the Rio Bhongo restaurant will be closed; however, pools at Casa de Playa (our beach club) and the Ostra Relaxation pool will remain open.”

My partner and I stayed at the Andaz for five nights several years ago right before the pandemic. We loved it, especially the laid-back vibe. The hills and vegetation made each building seem isolated, contributing to a sense of privacy.
We looked our stay using the Hyatt Prive program, which is similar to Virtuoso. Instead of a food/beverage credit, we received a $100 experience credit that we applied towards a coffee workshop that was delightful. The included breakfast at Rio Bhongo was, in our opinion, fabulous! The monkeys that dropped in for a bite (of food and not us) were fun.
I agree with you that the beach is not the Andaz’s chief selling point. For that the Four Seasons seems ideal. Nevertheless, we had a fantastic time at the Andaz and will return.
