How to make your home feel like a luxury hotel

Friday newsletters always feature luxury travel conteststipsseries, or news.

Today (December 11, 2020): Create a luxury hotel experience inside your home.

2020 is slowly coming to an end. And it has been an annus horribilis for travelers. Due to the pandemic, lockdowns were installed, countries became inaccessible, airlines cancelled routes, and international travel became almost impossible. One year ago, I had all my 2020 travel plans booked and mapped. And then COVID-19 happened, taking all the fun out of planning holidays in advance and forcing me to reschedule all my travels last-minute (to make sure that there was no health risk involved). Above all, I miss the hotel experience (and documenting it for my blog and vlog), although there’s a possibility the recreate a little part of that at home thanks, as the world’s most luxurious hotel brands make some of their signature products and experiences available online. Quarantining at home may feel like a mini-holiday when we can wake up in a Four Seasons bed, relax with Aman Skincare products, or enjoy Soneva’s glass art works.

SONEVA ART & GLASS

It’s no secret: I am huge fan of Soneva, the most luxurious and exclusive travel brand in the world. Soneva Fushi–  one of themost exclusive resorts in the Maldives – houses the first and only glass studio in the archipelago. Here, Soneva’s skilled team of glass artists design and create unique functional and sculptural pieces. Guests can watch the glass art being created, participate in art exhibitions, learn the art of glass blowing in special courses, or even personally design your own masterpiece to take home at the Maldives’ first glass studio. All the pieces are made from 100% recycled bottle glass that is collected from the Baa Atoll. All glass sculptures are available for sale on the Soneva online gift shop, which also sells some fabulous Soneva adventures.

AMAN SKINCARE COLLECTION

From Greece to Bali, Aman’s portfolio of luxury resorts stretches across the world. In 2018, the company launched its Aman Skincare collection, which can be purchased online. From the Nourishing Jade Mask Concentrate containing royal jelly, gold and vitamin B-12 to a Smoked Body Butter with amethyst and sandalwood, the products are designed not just to feel good, but also do good. The range reflects Aman’s global footprint, with ingredients drawn from around the world, including sea buckthorn oil from Bhutan, vetiver from Bali, wild-harvested Amazon plant-oil butters and rainforest muds. The luxe factor extends beyond the ingredients. The (recyclable) black marbled bottles and jars, inspired by traditional Japanese porcelain, have an appealing smoothness and weight.

FOUR SEASONS BEDDING

It might not be possible for must of us to travel to Four Seasons Resorts in far flung destinations across the globe, but we can still sleep in one of those heavenly Four Seasons beds, since they are available for purchase. The Four Seasons Signature Sleep Set includes a mattress, a corresponding sheet set, duvet cover set, duvet insert and pillow. The hotel shop also sells a range of soft and absorbent towels & robes, a bespoke range of luxury home and travel essentials, and a scented candle collection, inspired by the most iconic destinations from around the world. Currently, delivery can be made anywhere in Canada and the 50 USA, with plans to expand the service to additional markets in the future. When purchasing mattresses, the service includes removal of old mattresses at no extra charge.

AT HOME WITH SIX SENSES

Wellness is core to Six Senses. As travel bans and social distancing measures are still omnipresent around the globe, the brand is prioritizing a range of content that guests and global communities can tap into remotely from their homes. The aim is to remain solution-oriented and support their resilience and physical and mental well-being. At Home With Six Senses offers proactive and pragmatic ways for people to care for themselves and people they love in a range of formats. The content is available to everyone, whether or not they have previously stayed at a Six Senses property, and it is structured around the brand’s key wellness pillars: mindfulness, food, sleep quality, and living naturally.
