One flight takes off from Seoul to Jeju every 15 minutes and more than 26 million passenger fly to Jeju each year – that’s more than the total number of passengers that pass via all of London’s airports combined. Jeju is the capital of Jejudo island, which might just be the most popular holiday destination you’ve never heard of. The small island features white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, dramatic volcanic landscapes, and spectacular underground caves, and is often viewed as the Korean equivalent to Hawaii. Jejudo also has plenty of casinos, which help lure tourists from China, and, thanks to the island’s self-governing status, no visa is required for a visit.

  1. Interesting list. Seoul-Jeju is quite incredible. But I think your comparison of passenger volume with London airports is incorrect. Heathrow alone saw more than 75 million passengers in 2016.
