There’s nothing quite like the feeling of taking a dip with a city beneath you. Here’s my guide to the 10 best hotel rooftop pools in the world, from Munich to Chile. Dive in!

10. MANDARIN ORIENTAL MUNICH, GERMANY

Tucked away in a quiet side street, Mandarin Oriental Munich offers an enticing mix of Oriental style, German charm and internationally renowned service. The stunning rooftop pool, which is open during the warm summer months, enjoys incredible 360 degree views over Munich. Heated to a comfortable temperature, you can take a leisurely dip or do laps to stay in shape.

9. HOTEL UNIQUE SAO PAULO, BRAZIL

Located in the well-heeled residential area of Jardins in São Paulo, Hotel Unique is a must for savvy architecture fans and well-traveled urbanites alike. Upstairs, São Paulo’s best rooftop terrace offers spectacular views of the South America’s largest metropolis; that is, if you can take your eyes off the fabulous swimming pool that runs along its edge.

The Barcelona property’s rooftop terrace has a stylish pool, with trendy loungers besides it, from which to absorb the city views as you take a dip. Some of the landmarks visible from the terrace include Antoni Gaudí’s legendary La Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló.

2. FASANO, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL

Located on the eighth floor of the Fasano Hotel, the chic rooftop infinity pool offers a unparalelled panoramic view of Ipanema beach from an angle that captures Arpoador, the Morro Dois Irmãos and the Corcovado, exclusively for hotel guests. The bar menu offers a wide array of fresh-squeezed fruit juices, cocktails, and delicious al fresco dining throughout the day.

Hotel rooftops have an irresistible attraction to many travelers, and they are sometimes a reason why we choose to stay in a particular hotel. Indeed, it’s quite something to swim in a pool or have a drink with your loved one or friends while enjoying dreamy views all around you. When the weather is warm, hotels open their rooftop bars, restaurants and swimming pools to the public, so they can become playgrounds for city dwellers, jetsetters and fashionitas. To make my list of the best hotel rooftop in the world, these 10 social hot spots had to offer more than only spectacular views.

10. VERTIGO AND MOON BAR, BANGKOK, THAILAND

The Banyan Tree Bangkok hotel has a stylish and sophisticated roof top open-air grill and bar, floating 61 floors above the Thai capital. Each evening, you can dine al fresco and delight in a succulent seafood grill and delicious steaks while enjoying breathtaking and panoramic views of the city. Be prepared to pay premium prices though!

9. LE BAIN, NEW YORK CITY, NY, USA

Le Bain is a penthouse discothèque and rooftop bar on the top floor of the trendy The Standard, High Line hotel in the Meatpacking District featuring world-famous DJs, a state-of-the-art sound system and exclamation-inspiring views. During the summer, there’s a plunge pool on the dance floor and a crêperie on the “grass”-covered rooftop.

8. AER LOUNGE, MUMBAI, INDIA

Covering the entire roof of Four Seasons Mumbai hotel, AER towers 34 storeys above the bustling Worli district and is one of few rooftop bars to be open year round. The sleek, modern decor takes its cues from the city’s superfuture skyline, on full display thanks to the knockout 360-degree views.

7. RADIO ROOFTOP BAR, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM
