1. AMAN NEW YORK, USA

The Crown Building on Fifth Avenue building is one of the most expensive, if not sought-after blocks in the world and has presided since 1921 over the midpoint of Manhattan, overlooking Central Park. The fourth through tenth floors of the building is now occupied by the new Aman hotel, while the 11th floor and above have been transformed into 20, Aman-branded residences, crowned with a five-story, near-14,000-square-foot penthouse (priced in excess of $100 USDmillion). The new Aman encompasses an extraordinary Aman Spa, with a dramatic indoor swimming pool surrounded by fire pits and daybeds as its centerpiece. Two Spa Houses provide guests with an all-encompassing spa journey, encompassing a double treatment room, sauna and steam rooms, and an outdoor terrace with cabana, daybed and fireplace.


2. THE RITZ-CARLTON NEW YORK, NOMAD, USA

Newly built from the ground up and one of the tallest buildings in the area, the 250 room Ritz-Carlton hotel boasts spectacular views from the Empire State Building down to the Statue of Liberty, and is just steps away from Madison Square Park, the Flatiron Building, and a short walk to the Highline. Restaurants and bars by Michelin-starred chef José Andrés including Zaytinya offer an innovative mezze menu inspired by Turkish, Greek and Lebanese cuisines served up in a sleek and modern setting by Rockwell Group, and a new iteration of the high-end avant-garde dining destination, the Bazaar, will come later in 2023. Andrés also oversees the hotel‘s rooftop bar, where guests can drink 500 ft (150 m) in the air, as well as in-room dining, banquet events including weddings and more. The hotel also features a signature Ritz-Carlton Spa and fitness center including eight treatment rooms, sauna & steam rooms.


3. HOTEL BARRIERE FOUQUET’S, NEW YORK, USA

Housed within an impressive building standing amidst Tribeca’s cobblestone streetsHotel Barrière Fouquest’s aims to elegantly whisk its guests from the lively streets of New York right to the heart of a Parisian maison de famille. Inside the hotelParisian elegance meets New York energy, alongside the direction of Martin Brundizki Design Studio, with mouldings and exclusive Toile de Jouy fabric created for the bedrooms, a Belle Epoque ambiance in the hotel bar, bistro chairs and throwbacks to literary gatherings of days gone by. There are 97 rooms, including 6 signature suites with terraces, some offering view over the Hudson River. On-site facilities include a brasserie by Michelin-star Chef Pierre Gagnaire and a luxury spa.


4. THE SHOALS SUITES AND SLIPS, NEW YORK, USA

Open since early 2022, The Shoals is a hotel sanctuary of simple splendors nestled on Southold’s bayside, a destination rooted in the charismatic offerings of the great North Fork. Designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen, the property features 20 suites and 20 slips on the majestic Peconic Bay. The Shoals aims to press pause on the urban pace, offering an elemental retreat providing space and calm in the wild magnificence that is rural, coastal New York. The dockside property is the first hotel from restauranteur and Michelin-starred chef John Fraser, and of course, it offers delicious cuisine and profiles itself as a dining destination.


5. THE ST REGIS CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, USA

Located downtown, The St. Regis Chicago spans a total of three towers within the sought-after Lakeshore East community. The vibrant area includes a mix of residential and corporate properties, all centrally anchored by a public park. The luxurious hotel features 191 hotel rooms – including 33 spacious suites – and 393 branded residences within the 101-story building. Previously under construction as the luxury Wanda Vista Hotel and Vista Tower, the property was later rebranded as the St. Regis Chicago and the Residences at the St. Regis Chicago. The Tavern and the original cottages have been painstakingly restored to preserve their distinctive details, while new buildings sits alongside them – seamlessly blending with the authentic structures. The hotel’s Tavern is a California ranch-inspired restaurant spotlighting flavorful dishes with honest ingredients – many of which will be harvested from Mattei’s on-site garden. 


9. PENDRY PARK CITY, UTAH, USA

Bringing in artistic influence, thoughtful service and inspired design to Canyons Village, Pendry Park City serves as a destination within a destination. The luxury resort features 152 guestrooms, suites, and Pendry Residences. 12. FOUR SEASONS HOTEL AND RESIDENCES FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, USA

13. THE TAMPA EDITION HOTEL, FLORIDA, USA

Situated within the new 56-acre Water Street Tampa neighborhood, the hotel is home to 172 guest rooms and suites and 7 food and beverage venues, including a signature restaurant, rooftop bar and terrace. The property features a 204 sqm Penthouse Suite, expansive spa, fitness center and over 550 sqm of flexible meeting and events space. Bringing some of the world’s best talents together into one project, the property is designed by acclaimed New York-based architecture practice Morris Adjmi in collaboration with Florida-based firm Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates; with interiors designed by the renowned Roman & Williams, and the whole project underpinned by the creative vision of Ian Schrager and Ian Schrager Company.


14. W TORONTO, CANADA

Rising 11 stories in the vibrant neighborhood of Yorkville, the W Toronto Hotel is a celebration of Toronto’s storied art scene, diversity of culture, and legacy of non-conformity. Designed by global creative agency Sid Lee, the hotel journey begins on the 6th floor, where the ‘Living Room’ (the W brand’s signature lobby/lounge) drips in jewel tones of ruby, amethyst, and topaz – with curved lines and velvet furniture reminiscent of Toronto’s late 60s and early 70s counterculture movement. W Toronto features 254 guest rooms – including 30 suites – with a trendy decor that draws inspiration from Toronto’s illustrious theater district. 15. ROCK HOUSE, TURKS AND CAICOS

Rock House is a new island addition that provides a private, cliff-side oasis that captures the allure and elegance of the South of France, Capri and the Mediterranean. The resort is located on Providenciales’ north shore in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The intimate escape boasts accommodations ranging from poolside studios to four-bedroom Oceanfront standalone resort-style homes. 16. FOUR SEASONS RESORT TAMARINDO, MEXICO

Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo is located on a private peninsula along the Pacific Ocean in the state of Jalisco, between the towns of La Manzanilla and Barra de Navidad. The area, known as “Costa Alegre” or “Joy Coast” is acclaimed for its picturesque beaches, lush landscape and unique topography.  Most of the resort’s 155 rooms boast panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, enveloped by the surrounding jungle and lush golf course. The contemporary architectural and interior design blends with the natural surroundings and showcase local materials and textures. The resort offers four dining and beverage venues, including an ocean view bar and restaurant, beach bar and grill and golf club restaurant. 17. NAVIVA, A FOUR SEASONS RESORT, PUNTA MITA, MEXICO

Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort, the brand’s first adult-only tented resort in the Americas, is located on Mexico’s Pacific coast, at the northern tip of Bahía de Banderas on the same peninsula as Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. With only 15 luxury tents – all with private plunge pools – Naviva is one of the smallest Four Seasons resorts in the world. Deviating from traditional hotel wellness offerings, Naviva offers a series of intimate spaces including two spa pods tucked away in the lush forest, a traditional Mexican temazcal or “house of heat,” an outdoor gym, a serene jungle oasis at the Alma Pool and a private 575 ft (175 m) expanse of pristine Pacific beachfront – a calming place to practice yoga or mindfulness. 18. HOTEL TERRESTRE, PUERTO ESCONDIDO, MEXICO

Hotel Terrestre, the latest addition to Grupo Habita’s family of lifestyle hotels, is a multi-sensorial invitation for visitors to connect with nature. Intimately situated between the ocean and mountains of Puerto Escondido, Terrestre takes the experience of sustainable tourism into new territory. 23. HOTEL LA COMPANIA, PANAMA

Three different eras of Panama history come to life at Hotel La Compañia, where opulent modern design revitalizes a landmark location. The architect behind the Hotel and Villas Fasano is Isay Weinfeld, the renowned artist responsible for the iconic Fasano São Paulo and Fasano Punta del Este. 27. ROSEWOOD SAO PAULO, BRAZIL

Rosewood Sao Paulo is housed in an impressively renovated building just off the city’s main boulevard Avenida Paulista and features 151 guest rooms and 122 residential suites, two restaurants, two swimming pools and a spa center. Spread over 22 floors, the hotel building was originally built in 1904 and was a maternity hospital located in the center of the Cidade Matarazzo complex, which contains historic buildings in the middle of Sao Paulo. The skyscraper takes the form of a terraced tower clad in a patchwork of bronzed grids, which are inset and pulled out alternatively to form terraced gardens, a scheme which is intended to emulate the surrounding landscape and provide a physical continuation of parkland and trees in the vicinity. The hotel interiors are designed by famed designer Philippe Starck.

32. MANDARIN ORIENTAL PALACE, LUZERN, SWITZERLAND

Mandarin Oriental re-branded an existing hotel on Lake Lucerne, Switzerland, and re-opened it as Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern at the end of 2022 following an extensive renovation. The iconic Hotel Palace Luzern first opened in 1906 and is located in the heart of the city, on the shores of Lake Lucerne. The multi-million-dollar renovation included the restyling of all guestrooms and suites, the redesign of the public areas, as well as the landscaping of the gardens. The 146 luxurious rooms and suites offer views of the lake and mountains. There’s also a restaurant and a bar together with a variety of social and meeting facilities, a spa and a fitness room.


33. BOTANIC SANCTUARY ANTWERP, BELGIUM

Botanic Sanctuary Antwerp is housed in a  12th century monastery. The new property brings together a sense of history with contemporary sensibilities and sustainable design. The Alila Kothaifaru Maldives Resort made its debut in early 2022. Prior to Alila’s affiliation with Hyatt, the brand opened Alila Maldives Hadahaa in 2009. Not long after in 2011, Hyatt acquired the management of Alila Hotels and the property was renamed to Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. Later in 2018, Hyatt brought the management company of Alila properties, Two Roads Hospitality under its umbrella. Surrounded by a stunning house reef, Alila Kothaifaru Maldives offers guests serenity and adventure in the Raa Atoll, a scenic 45-minute seaplane journey from Malé. Guests are offered to venture on dive excursions to Hanifaru Bay, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve during their visit to the island amongst many other soon to be announced leisure activities. There’s a total of 80 villas: 36 overwater villas and 44 beachfront villas.

71. SHANGRI-LA SHOUGANG PARK, BEIJING, CHINA

Located at the heart of Shougang Park, the Shangri-La Shougang Park, Beijing embraces stunning views of Shijingshan Hill and Qunming Lake. Among its neighbours are the Snowboard Big Air Venue for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Chang’an Mills. Led by renowned Italian designer Piero Lissoni, Milan-based design firm Lissoni Casal Ribeiro S.p.A was responsible for the hotel’s design concept. Building on the original architectural foundation of the former Shougang Power Plant, the designers have paid homage to its industrial heritage by honouring the building’s historical value and complementing this with Shangri-La’s modern style and Asian sensibility. The hotel’s main entrance and lobby are filled with steel elements that recall its past and wooden patterns that create a sense of warmth. The 283 guest rooms and suites are decorated in an Asian style with soft tones and minimalist lines, and offer stunning views of Shijingshan Hill, Yongding River and Qunming Lake through floor-to-ceiling windows.

73. ACE HOTEL SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Ace Hotel Group launched its maiden Australian outpost, Ace Hotel Sydney, within the historic Tyne House brick factory in the city’s Surry Hills section. Atelier Ace partnered with Melbourne-based Flack Studio on the design of the 264-room property, which will also mark the brand’s first location in the Southern Hemisphere. Inspired by the rich history of Surry Hills and the warm, cinematic color story of the Australian landscape, the hotel recalls the city’s past through contrasting textures and tones. Organic materials like acoustic straw walls in guestrooms and the ochre red lobby staircase will echo some of the neighborhood’s most historic periods -from gang wars and underground liquor trade of the 1920s and ’30s to the modernist art boom of the 1960s and beyond. Public spaces like the ground floor restaurant, bar, and café or the lively F&B space on the rooftop reflect the rhythm of Surry Hills as well, while guestrooms will showcase Aussie craftsmanship with custom furniture, joinery, and lighting by Flack Studio.


74. THE LANGHAM GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA

With its prime location on the beachfront in Surfers Paradise, The Langham Gold Coast is in the central and tallest of the three landmark towers of the Jewel development. The grand structure and shimmering exterior of the Jewel are reminiscent of three colossal quartz crystals, visible for miles from the Nerang River to the Gold Coast hinterland. The crystalline forms of the towers are inspired by the gemstone shards discovered in the region which dates back thousands of years.   1. I’ve stayed at the rock house. It’s okay. Food was a big problem – it was expensive and the menu doesn’t change. There was only one restaurant when we went (Dec 22), with 3-5 entree options.

    Pools are COLD. Both the private and the main pool. Rooms are spacious nice. Considering the properties you review here, this hotel is not even in the same galaxy.
