So far, I have published travel guides on the following destinations:<\/p>\n Today, I am adding a new travel guide to my blog about Rwanda.\u00a0Situated at the heart of the Albertine Rift, Rwanda is one of Africa\u2019s most biodiverse regions and a haven of rainforest endemism. The\u00a0extraordinarily beautiful, small country is home to more than one third of the world\u2019s remaining mountain gorillas, who live in the high-altitude cloud forests\u00a0of the iconic Virunga Massif.\u00a0A densely-populated country with most people living in rural areas, Rwanda has shown great courage in\u00a0 recovering from the memory of the horrible 1994 genocide. Today, Rwanda is a stable, well-run and peacefully united country that ranks among Africa’s safest destiations.\u00a0The optimistic energy of the people has earned their country the moniker \u2018Remarkable Rwanda\u2019 and it regularly features on \u2018must-visit\u2019 lists.<\/span><\/p>\n Get\u00a0the most\u00a0out\u00a0of your (luxury) trip to Rwanda with my travel guide. Find out more about:<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the heart of Africa, just south of the equator,\u00a0Rwanda<\/span>\u2019s relatively high altitude provides it with a remarkably pleasant tropical highland climate, albeit also with plenty of rain.\u00a0Although it\u2019s regarded as a year-round activity, there are quite some some differences in the weather patterns throughout the year.<\/span><\/p>\n Most travelers arrive in\u00a0Rwanda<\/span>\u00a0via Kigali International Airport, the<\/span>\u00a0main gateway for all destinations in the country. More and more airlines now offer direct flights to\u00a0Kigali<\/span>, including KLM, Brussels Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and\u00a0Rwanda<\/span>\u2019s national proud, its flagship carrier\u00a0Rwanda<\/span>ir.\u00a0Click\u00a0here<\/a>\u00a0for a continuously updated list of airlines that offer direct flights to Kigali.<\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s also possible to arrive in\u00a0Rwanda<\/span>\u00a0overland as part of a multi-country itinerary.\u00a0<\/span>Rwanda<\/span>\u00a0is bordered by Uganda to the north, Tanzania to the east, Burundi to the south, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west.\u00a0Visiting Congo and Burundi is off limits these days (due to\u00a0<\/span>unpredictable security situation and the potential for violent civil unrest), but the\u00a0<\/span>land border crossings with Uganda and Tanzania are open and many tourists combine these countries with Rwanda in one single holiday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Before you buy a plane ticket, consider reading my\u00a0tips & tricks for buying the cheapest plane ticket<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Requirements\u00a0for\u00a0entry\u00a0into\u00a0Rwanda<\/span>\u00a0differ from country to country, and are subject to change.
