Remember the movie The Beach<\/a>\u00a0with Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role\u00a0? Well,\u00a0these days you have to look a little harder to find the utopian Thai paradise as described in Alex Garland’s 1990s cult backpacking novel, although little gems still shine brightly on the Thai island Koh Phi Phi, where the movie was filmed. Despite being a magnet for budget and backpacker travelers, Thailand also happens to be home to some of the world’s most ultraluxurious resorts, whether it be beach enclaves, urban hotels or jungle retreats. Here’s my selection of the top 10 most exclusive and luxurious resorts in Thailand, and while all of them are stunning hotels, the number one resort is\u00a0an absolutely amazing, out-of-this-world place.<\/p>\n
