Like others, I am not a good flyer and am not a fan of the ATR but the flight is mercifully short and the weather at that time was fine travelling in both directions. But I would not want to do that journey during the rainy season.
If you ever get a chance to go, then I very much recommend the Poulo Condor Resort.

Though I see your point that anyone who is nervous on a plane should probably avoid ATR flights.
