I lived in Rome until now and have reached Alitalia’s Freccia Alata Plus = Elite plus on Skyteam twice. BUT …. I am moving to Madrid Spain in a few months …
Air Europa, Air France, Alitalia , have a good presence also in Madrid (all Skyteam members) I have already reached One World’s Saphire level on my Iberia Plus goes card but I am still a bit far from my Platinum = Emerald status ….
I have also looked at Star alliance through Miles and More …
In your expert opinion which one should I stick with if I were to make Madrid my main home base for main departures world wide ?
I travel big time to the US and South America , less to the Far east … oh and my kids live in London.

TIA !

Best

Pladomor.

Hi Paul, the article was published before AA introduced a major devaluation. You know need more miles to book award flights or upgrade to Business Class. In addition, to gain any status, you need to fly a certain amount of miles and spend a certain amount of money with the airline. So far, British Airways has not introduced a minimum spend for elite. In all honesty, it does not really matter that much anymore if you post your miles with British Airways or AA, but I still prefer AA’s loyalty program for the sole purpose that they have more interesting partners (outside the Oneworld group) to spend your miles on (such as Etihad Airways, Air Tahiti Nui, and Fiji Airways). I hope that this informations helps you. Kind regards

also love the videos
,i have one question,i used to travel a lot on AA to new york and chicago mainly and enjoyed its benefits back then in the late 90s-2005,it always seemed you needed fewer miles needed to uograde to buisness etc than any other airline at the tme ect and evern though it was early interent days there was many ways to earn miles etc ,but i havent been travelling much but this year i will be travelling much more, basically 4-6 trips to the us and maybe 3-4 eu trips as well all from london or manchester ,would i still be best going with AA program or ba /avios,
i would get a frequent flyer credit card for bookings and hotels if that helps your reply, many thanks
(when i used to fly, AA was the only way i would go just beacuse the planes looked amazing in their livery :)even if the air stewardesses were an average of 65 yeard old lol

Is it possible to have the AA credit card in different currencies? And for Swiss people/corporate is it available too?

Iberia is a partner and OneWorld alliance member. If you bly IB, you should be able to take full advantage of the AAdvantage program.

Yes, you can redeem your AAdvantage miles on American Airlines, all Oneworld airlines, as well as other airline partners of American Airlines (such as Etihad, Air Tahiti Nui, Alaska Airlines, and Fiji Airways). You can read more about that on the official AAdvantage website: https://www.aa.com/i18n/aadvantage-program/miles/redeem/redeem-miles.jsp
