The deafening sounds of the busy city were muted here, muffled by the endless aisles of clothing. A surreal feeling settled over me as I ducked through a door-like gap made by the used shirts that hung from every available crevice. A wide eyed child peered at me but said nothing. Her entrepreneurial mother gave me a suspicious once over before returning to her work. As I continued on, the hushed whisper of ‘muzungu’ heralded my movement.
