Regarding Transfagarasan, it’s indeed one of the most beautiful roads in the worlds. But it is not getting close to Moldoveanu Peak. One need to hike for about 7 hours to get to Moldoveanu Peak from Transfagarasan

There is another very scenic road in Romania, I dare to say, as beautiful as Transfagarasan. It’s Transalpina. You should definitely give it a try if in the country.

I have driven (four wheels) and ridden (two wheels) around the world, there are few journeys comparing with The San Juan Skyway in the State of Colorado. (The following detailed description is courtesy of wikipedia.org) The San Juan Skyway is an All-American Road and a component in the Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway System. It forms a 233.0-mile (375.0 km) loop in the southwest part of the U.S. state of Colorado traversing the heart of the San Juan Mountains. It roughly parallels the routes of the narrow gauge railways: Rio Grande Southern (US 160, SH 145 and SH 62); and the unconnected Ouray and Silverton Branches of the Denver & Rio Grande along US 550 with the Silverton Railroad bridging a part of the gap. Simply stunning

I was scrolling down and was going to say clearly this person hasn’t driven to Milford Sound in NZ. And then you had it.
I would also include the ring road of Iceland. The terrain constantly changes and surprises.

The Icefields Parkway Drive between Lake Louise and Jasper, Alberta is stunning plus the chance to take the Snow Bus onto the Athabaska Glacier, which continues to recede. Back in the 1960’s it was close to the highway. My second favourite would be Going to the Sun Highway in Montana in the old vintage Red Bus.

The Foto #8 is not the Romanian Transfagarasan but the old road to the Gotthard Pass called Tremola in Switzerland..
