If your claim is approved, InterContinental will provide the first night\u2019s room price free and match the lower average nightly room price found for that stay for the remainder of your stay (in case of a prepaid room, the difference in price will be refunded). So if you only stay one night, then that night will be for free. I have done it multiple times before, and this is how you can do it as well:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong>Step 1<\/strong><\/span>: Make up your mind on\u00a0what InterContinental hotel you want to stay at. There are around 150 hotels in major cities and leisure destinations in over 60 countries under this brand, so there&#8217;s a good chance that an InterContinental hotel is located along\u00a0your upcoming travel itinerary. You can access a list with all InterContinental hotels on the official <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ihg.com\/intercontinental\/content\/gb\/en\/explore#scmisc=nav_explore_ic&amp;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Intercontinental website<\/a>. The overall quality of\u00a0InterContinental properties ranges from poor\u00a0(e.g. InterContinental Muscat) to excellent (e.g. InterContinental Bordeaux, San Francisco, and Bora Bora).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/span>: Try to find a lower rate than the one displayed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihg.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official IHG website<\/a> for your preferred travel dates (it helps if your travel dates are flexible). Finding a lower rate\u00a0may seem a complicated process if you are not familiar with travel tricks, however\u00a0this is not difficult at all as I have previously explained in <a href=\"https:\/\/turkeyalwan.net\/2015\/10\/09\/travel-tip-how-to-find-the-lowest-hotel-price\/\">this blogpost<\/a>. All you\u00a0need to do is verify the hotel rate on the aggregator websites <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-7603513-11662161\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trivago<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jdoqocy.com\/click-7603513-10789184\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hotelscombined<\/a>, which check at once\u00a0the price of a hotel room at hundreds of other sites (e.g.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpbolvw.net\/click-7603513-11040567\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Booking.com<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.awin1.com\/awclick.php?mid=3755&amp;id=222229\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Onhotels.com<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/7603513\/type\/dlg\/http:\/\/www.otel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Otel.com<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqzyfj.com\/click-7603513-10772148\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hotels.com<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.awin1.com\/awclick.php?mid=3456&amp;id=222229\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Expedia<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/click-7603513-11113590\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hotelopia.com<\/a>, etc\u2026) and then show you where you can book the cheapest rate. Try it out for yourself here (and find out how easy it is):<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-7603513-11662940-1427705140000\" target=\"_top\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ftjcfx.com\/image-7603513-11662940-1427705140000\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong>Step 3<\/strong><\/span>: Once you found a lower rate on another website, you need to make a booking on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ihg.com\/intercontinental\/hotels\/gb\/en\/reservation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official InterContinental website<\/a>. Make sure that you book a refundable rate (so that you can still cancel your reservation in case your claim is denied).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong>Step 4<\/strong><\/span>: After you completed\u00a0the booking, you need to submit an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ihg.com\/hotels\/us\/en\/global\/customer_care\/bwc_lp?scmisc=PartnerConnect_LatestOffers_Pod3\">online Best Rate Guarantee (BRG) claim<\/a>. This only takes one minute and must be done\u00a0within 24 hours of making your\u00a0booking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong>Step 5<\/strong><\/span>: Now all you can do now is\u00a0wait for the response from InterContinental (which will follow by email within 24 hours after submitting your claim) and hope that your claim will be approved, resulting in a free hotel night. How cool is that!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are some catches though, so be sure to take the following into consideration when trying to score a free night through the InterContinental BRG program:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can only submit a BRG claim after making a reservation. Always\u00a0make sure that you book a refundable rate, so that you can cancel your reservation in case your BRG is not approved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Only the lowest type of rate is eligible for a BRG. In other words,\u00a0if an InterContinental hotel offers\u00a0a pre-paid, non-refundable rate, then this is the only type of rate at that hotel which is eligible for a BRG.\u00a0So, in this case, you would need to\u00a0book a non-refundable\u00a0rate in order to be eligible to submit a BRG claim\u00a0and if it\u2019s not approved, then you will be stuck with a pre-paid rate (that is why I advise against submitting a BRG claim for a prepaid, non-refundable rate).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The BRG\u00a0is only available for the exact same room type and same view. For example, if you book a king bed with a sofa bed room type and with a view (e.g., ocean) on an IHG website, and are comparing it to a non-IHG website, you must find a price with the same king bed with sofa bed room type and with a the same view on the non-IHG website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>All terms of the comparison room reservation, including, but not limited to pre-payment, deposit, cancellation policy, number of guests, or other requirements must be equal in all respects to the terms found on an IHG website for your claim to be valid.
